  • The Govt. Of India, Ministry of Forest & Climate Change has issued a list of single use Plastics items that are banned from 1st July 2022. It has banned not only the use and Sales but also production import, possession & distribution.
    Being unaware of Notification and also due to ignorance of the Negative impact of Plastics in Human life, people are still using the plastics.
    : The aim of the Awareness program was to spread the informations as to what are the negative impacts.
    : The Rotary Club of Kalimpong organised an Awareness program on the "Negative impact of Plastics in Human Health " at Rotary Center on 30.3.2023.
    The program was attended by Female participants of Seven Self Group of Kalimpong Municipality'.
    Unfortunately, these plastics don't break down completely but photo degrade s into macro, micro and nano plastics that absorb toxin and continue to pollute environment (soil+water+ Air).
    All plastics contains endocrine disrupters and are associated with negative health effects, like
    Single use plastics are used once and thrown away in trash as a result plastics waste ends up in dump yards and gets accumulated in soil, water bodies and air.
    The Awareness program was well received by the participants and all of them pledged to
    Lessen/reuse the single use plastics,
    Carry their own shopping bags,
    Segregate the Plastics Waste &
    Pass on the knowledge gained in the program to their families, community etc.
    Hormone related cancer
    Infertility,
    Birthday defects,
    Immune System suppression
    Neurodevelopmental Disorders like ADHD(Attention deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) etc.
