Awareness Camp on Cervical Cancer

Cancer is an ogre that can tarnish the joys of womanhood.Fortunately cancer does not develop instantaneously.Instead it goes through a series of pre malignant stages when it is amenable to treatment and complete cure.The challenge is to catch it in the bud.Knowledge about the disease and the utilisation of the screening tests and preventive measures can go a long way in curbing the disease burden.We,the Rotary Club of Siliguri,Medics organised a talk on cancer awareness by dr Smita Das Ghose and conducted free pap smears for the patients of salugara on 26.4.23 The programme was attended by a good number of ladies across all age groups.The audience participated actively in asking questions and clearing their doubts and presumption about cancer breast,cancer cervix,cancer ovary and cancer vulva.High risk behaviour and good sexual practices were affirmed. We were delighted to learn that the women found the information and service provided very valuable. The programme was conducted by dr Smita Das Ghose n dr Rekha Khandelwal.
