  • 3 rotary clubs (RC GHY SOUTH, RC GHY, RC GHY LUIT & rotaract club of south guwahati jointly had celebrated the 75 independence day of the country
  • Rotary Club of Gauhati South in collaboration with, Rotary Club of Guwahati and Rotary Club of Guwahati Luit, celebrated the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on completion of the 75th years of Independence by India on 14th of August,2022 at ROTARY-NHAI UDYAN, JALUKBARI FLY OVER Intersection near the Iconic Xorai.
    The programme started with the hoisting of Indian National Flag jointly by senior Rotarian of RCGS Rtn. Gayatri Bhattacharya and Rtd. Wing Commander Umakanta Mahanta at 9.00 am in presence of members of the organizing Rotary clubs singing the National Anthem.
    After the flag hoisting ceremony all re-assembled at the meeting site and Rtn Gayatri Bhattacharyya Chaired the official program . The following dignitaries were invited on the Dias.Shri Debasish Sarma, Commissioner, GMC,as Guest of Honour, Shri Subhash Sikaria Agarwal ,Chairman, Nezone group as the Chief guest, PDG Rtn. Arijit Endow, PDG Rtn. Prabhat Kedia, Shri Kumar and Shri Kalyan Dutta representing NHAI. All the dignitaries were felicitated with Phulam Gamocha by our Rotarian Members present.
    The welcome address was Given by the Asstt. Governor Rtn. Bibhuti Dutta which was followed by the speeches from all the Dignitaries present on the dias congratulating all on the occasion of celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
    A special felicitation was given to the Rtd. Wing commander Umakanta Mahanta and his wife who fought against Pakistan in the 1971 war with velour. He was introduced by Rtn Pallavi Sarma Bordoloi felicitated by Ann Kalpana Bordoloi.
    After the official program with the offering of vote of thanks by AG Rtn.Pwan Gulcha all were served with AMUL- MASTI, SAMOSHA and GULAB JAMUN, OREO BISCUITS and MASALA TEA.
    Musical Tributes commenced thereafter wherein the program started with 2 patriotic CHORUS songs “Viswa bijoye nabajawan &Luitor parore ami deka Lora” performed by members of RC GHY SOUTH.
    Guest artist Ms Shradha Singha who sang the most prominent Indian patriotic song “AE MERE WATAN KE LOGON” accompanied by her father Rwitom Singha on keyboards, Vinayak Sharma on CAJON, Shankar Das on percussion.
    IFRM3240 vice-chairman Rtn Probin Borthakur sang “Xandhya Jetiya Tuloxir tol”;
    IFRM 3240 member Rtn Ananya Goswami (RC GOLAGHAT) sang “Aie tuk kenekoi “
    IFRM 3240 member Rtn Anupam Aich (member of RC GHY) together with his daughter sang “O desh mere”
    Members of RC GHY LUIT performed MEDLEY of SONGS, which was highly appreciated by all present.
    Rtn. Robin Kalita of RCGS then sang “Buku hom hom kore”

    Rtn. P M Goswami’s daughters Ms Parineeta Goswami and Ms Mahasweta Goswami Sang two Assamese songs one Jyoti Sangeet ie. “Jananir Santan” and the other Bhupendra Sangeetie. “ Rim jhim Rim jhim Baraxune” followed by a patriotic song “ Yugajoyee xuradhwani” of Rtn. P M Goswami himself.
    Then Ms. Shradha Singha once again performed 2 back to back songs.
    Master Rishav Baruah (a rotary let of Rtn. Baruah of RC GHY) sang medley of 3 songs followed by a concluding song by MAHAFUZ.
    The musical programme came to an end with the JATIYA XANGIT “O mur apunar dexh”
