    Rotary Club of Kalimpong conducted an Awareness Program under Women's Empowerment program on Global menstrual Hygiene Day with the members of Self Help Group of Kalimpong municipality.
    Menstrual hygiene day is an Annual Awareness Day on May 28th to highlight the importance of good Menstrual Hygiene Management at Global Level.
    It was initiated by German based NGO WASH in the year 2013 and was globally observed in year 2014 on 28th May for the first time.
    28th May because Menstrual cycles average 28 days in length and a female menstruate an average of five days and May is the Fifth Month of the year.
    The Menstrual hygiene day confronts the stigma attached to Menstruation with collective advocacy, education and action by
    (1) by breaking the taboos and stigma surrounding menstruation;
    (2) Educating about Menstruation
    (3) Understanding the importance of good Menstrual Hygiene Management
    (4) Rights of women and girls to manage their menstruation in period friendly sanitation facilities in privacy, safety and with dignity.
