INAUGURATION OF NEWLY CONSTRUCTED TOILETS AND HANDWASHING STATION AT MAWLONG PRESBYTERIAN SECONDARY SCHOOL, SHILLONG.

The Rotary Club of Shillong constructed a much- needed hand washing station and four toilets (two for girls and two for boys) at Mawlong Presbyterian Secondary School, Shillong. The school has classes from primary till Class X and has a strength of almost 100 students. It is the only secondary school in the area catering to about 3000 residents.
The inauguration programme on 28th June 2023, was attended by President Rtn Deeya Rathore, Secretary Rtn Suresh Singh and Past President Rtn David Umdor; Reverend P Wahlang represented the Managing Committee of the school. Also present were the teachers and students of the school. President Deeya Rathore while addressing the gathering said that it was an important project considering the large number of school drop outs due to the lack of proper toilets and sanitation. Past President Rtn David Umdor said that the Rotary Club of Shillong is involved in many such kinds of social activities in the State of Meghalaya and that health and sanitation is one of Rotary’s primary areas of focus. Secretary Rtn Suresh Singh said that this project is in line with Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and that the school should benefit from this initiative.
