  • Rotary Club of Darjeeling Himalayas hosted a ZONAL RYLA on July 29-31st at Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling.

The 2-day event witnessed the highest turnout with:
22 schools participating from across Zone VIII, including one student from Siliguri.
66 participants in total: highest in RYLA’s history in Darjeeling.
50% from government schools and economically weaker backgrounds.
25 club members actively participating in organizing the event.
100% happiness and satisfactory rate from students on feedback received.

Topics covered in the RYLA induced leadership training, the power of positive thinking, public speaking and communications, youth concerns including mental health, inclusivity, mobile addiction, child trafficking and emotional management.

Fun and games included outdoor activities like rockclimbing, zip line, obstacle courses, and reel making. Children had a gala time and shared testmonials on their learnings. This RYLA was dedicated to late Rtn. Diwakar Thapa, zonal co-ordinator 2022-2023. We declare this RYLA to be a momentous success, not only because it was the first-ever RYLA of the club, but because of the impact that is still rippling through.
